Let’s plant 20,000 trees in ONE year! Let’s help against global warming, support wildlife, encourage contact with nature & its appreciation, increase safe areas, and mingle between our communities.

While shaping our project, we set out to see how we can benefit approximately 1.6 million people living in Cyprus as the target audience. Then we wanted to contribute to our country becoming a green island again by planting trees through this project, by taking into account the biggest problems in the world and their impact on our country & said, why limit ourselves to an impact on just 100,000 people? My friends and I are participating in this competition as "Friends Forever International" volunteers in Cyprus and as members of "Mother Flower" in Cyprus, taking into account the rapidly increasing population and construction and intending to beautify our environment and make it a more happily livable place.

So how are we going to do that?

First of all, we want to create a mass movement by contacting the relevant institutions e.g. the Ministries of Education for an educational element to the project, Forestry Departments for planting areas; then identifying the locations and setting a date, reaching out to people, organizations, associations, unions, Civil Society Organizations in Cyprus, reporting our project through social media and YouTube, and planting. We want to serve our country and our planet by growing our project through various sponsorship agreements, to hopefully go beyond the 50,000 Euros, which is the competition award and plant more trees. The first target is to plant 20,000 trees in one year!!!

So how will it affect our daily lives?

First of all, if we look at the last 30 years on the island of Cyprus, it is inevitable that many trees across the island were sacrificed in an attempt to build more and more buildings. There are many forests that have been destroyed due to fires for various reasons. Also on a global scale, many forests known as the lungs of the world (Amazon, Siberia, Australia) also struggle to fight fires to a large degree. 13 THOUSAND HECTARES, i.e. 100 THOUSAND ACRES, WERE BURNT IN THE LAST 20 YEARS IN CYPRUS in fires in forests, including private land...

What's more, due to the increasing population and fossil fuel consumption across the island, we can see that the quality of the island's residents is constantly declining and, therefore, many chronic diseases are on the rise. We believe that this momentum that we want to create will grow very fast and make a great contribution to the country's quality of life, tourism, as well as to our planet and to humanity as a whole.

Target audience: 8 billion people (world population)
