Partnership with the relevant Chamber of Commerces and NGOS to organise an initiative that recognises, awards and encourages gender equality friendly employers.

Especially in the Turkish Cypriot community, where paternity leave does not exists in the law and fathers get 2 days of 'special leave'  - the same that is given for 'bereavement', we need to recognise those employers who take their own inititiave to support their employees and their families. Not everyone has family/childcare support. And lack of social policy and public childcare services/benefits make it extremely hard for families. Plus we should ease the 'care' burden from women in the family as usually they are the ones that care for grandchildren as well as elderly parents. Partnership with the relevant Chamber of Commerces/Industry/business organisations and NGOs such as the Feminist Workshop to organise an initiative that recognises, awards and encourages gender equality friendly employers with regards to maternity/paternity/parental leave. My husband's boss, Ahmet Kasımoğlu of Capital Radio 93.8FM and Novemberson Ltd is one of those employers. He allowed, and still does, flexible working for my husband so that we could co-parent our baby when she was born, and take care of everything together. He stayed at home for 2 weeks, working if necessary from home, and then allowed him to come in the office in the afternoons after that. Even now if the creche is closed and we do not ave childcare, Ahmet always supports us by offering flexible working conditions so that I can also work.  These employers can be promoted as 'gender equality friendly' (or a better name) employers - be given awards in a ceremony and be awarded this title by a a prestigious organisation/body - such as the Swedish Embassy  - and share this title at their business and on their LinkedIn accounts etc, with an appropriate graphic/design/digital badge. These can be shared in the press and social media.
